Mission of the Department

The Department was founded by specialists from the Section of Wood Structures of the former Department of Furniture and Wood Products on 1st January 2015. The Department was founded due to growing interest in new attractive study programme Timber Structures at the Faculty of Wood Sciences and Technology in Zvolen and as a result of requirements of the construction industry to create a partner in academic environment dealing with timber structures. The Department focuses on the education, research and scientific activities associated with design and production processes of timber structures and other wood products.  It also guarantees study programmes at the University and provides further education, research and development in the area.

The Department professionally guarantees certification process for industry producers in order to obtain „Timber Structure Quality Mark“ awarded by Slovak Association of Wood Processors and also competition “Timber Structure of the Year“ in Slovakia.

Department of Wooden Construction guarantees full-time and part-time study programmes:
•    Bachelor degree – Wooden Constructions
•    Master degree – Wooden Constructions
•    PhD. degree – Construction and Production Processes of Wood Products
